Prerequisite:Fabrication and Soldering Level 1or Weekend Workshop
Tuition: $300 - 6 students max
Time: 1 Day Workshop, 6 Hours
Stone setting is one of the skills that separates a beginner from a true jeweler—and in this 1-day (6-hour) workshop, you’ll get hands-on with two of the most essential techniques: tube setting and flush setting.
Working with 2mm and 3mm faceted stones, you’ll learn how to cut precise seats and set stones directly into metal by pushing the surrounding material over the stone to lock it in place. There’s no bezel to build here—the metal is already there—so accuracy, control, and proper technique make all the difference.
Once you understand this process, it changes how you approach your work. These techniques allow you to add clean, professional stone accents to finished pieces with speed and confidence, opening up a whole new level of design and refinement.
We’ll also cover how to modify and create your own tools, including making a burnisher, so you can fine-tune your setup and work more efficiently at the bench.
This is an intermediate-level class. Students should have prior jewelry-making experience and be comfortable using a flex shaft, as this process requires precision and attention to detail.
All materials are included, and projects will be prepped in advance so you can focus fully on building your stone setting skills.
